Under flight loads the elevator was not very responsive...
Bear in mind that if you have used a scale sized stab/elevator (which I believe was the plan) then the elevator response is simply not going to be like what you'd get on a BUSA-style model with its greatly enlarged stab/elevator. Also the elevator response will be even weaker since you don't have a leading edge dipping down as you would on a full-flying elevator........
Don, I can't agree with that premise - the overall size of the tail feathers controls whether the airframe flys in a steady, stable stance relative to the direction of flight (it keeps it from wobbling or skidding).

Elevator response is related to how much of the stab is allocated to the elevator. Yes, a full flying stab is more effective than a conventional elevator, but a coventional stab/elevator will still control pitch - even if the overall size of the stab/elevator is too small.
