Heat will soften it and you could wipe some of it away or reattach the muffler. I have been told it doesn't work well in muffler situations because the heat does soften it. In glow situations I have proven to myself that it doesn't help. The only glow muffler I lost was when I used the provided gasket. Since then it's been metal to metal, and no thread locker, and I have kept all mufflers.
