The CG on my plans is marked 6 inches from the leading edge, but is is wrong. Nick made adjusted the CG to 5 inches after he test flew his.
Mine is at 5 inches with 5 lbs in the nose for ballast. I'm going to remove a half pound and fly her.
From my experience I don't think she will notice the difference. She handles very well on the ground and in the air. There is a video of the test flight on Utube. Not very good but is does show you what you need to know. My muffler broke in flight thus the long roll out due to the idle not wanting to settle down.
The new DLE 85 is a great choice for the Spit. Buy contest grade balsa for everything aft of the trailing edge. I do think if built right, 3 lbs in the nose is doable.
