+1 on the simulator.
It's always worth the money and you'll solo a lot faster then just with buddy-box flying.

I learned to fly helicopters with Real Flight and saved a ton of money with not crashing my Rappi.
Simulators do not replace actual flying, but the are a great training device.

Pushing the 'reset' button is a lot more convenient then picking up the pieces and build a new plane :-)
