I think you're right. I tried one, for grins. Über-cheap, flew marginally.

Personally, I wouldn't bother expending any time and resources on it. Your friend can buy an el cheapo Chinese ARF "trainer" for less than a hundred bucks, use the engine/electronics in that derelict, and have a much better model.

Of course, if the OP is looking for a challenge... Then by all means, give it a shot. I had the low-wing example, and the wing failed after less than a dozen flights. They were pretty much junk, IMO...
