Default RE: Restoring my Ziroli DC-3 to an AC-47 Gunship

Hey guys, it has been a while since I have been able to work on the old girl. She is getting closer so I thouhgt it was time to give an update.

I ordered graphics and paint mask from my buddy Jerry at Pro Mark graphics. www.pro-mark.com

His stuff is the best out there and he knows what guys are looking for. He supplies all the top scale competitors in the world.

So I have the vinyl paint mask for the star and bar as well as all the numbers on the model. Also I had him do the main art work for the nose and mission markings as vinyl so they could be easily accomplished at a lower cost than as a dry transfer. This was Jerry's idea to save me a few bucks.

pic #1 show the basic markings for the fuselage.
pic #2 and #3 show the vinyl mask for the nose art in place for riveting the fuselage.

So what I am doing here with these mask on the fuselage is I have these cut to the same size as the colored markings that will go on after paint. I place these on to rivet around them. As we know trying to place these over the fuselage with rivets would result in a large amount of air bubbles so we place these mask's on so we know where to rivet and where not to rivet. I will then pull these before painting the fuselage. Once painted I will then put on the colored vinyl decals and then rivet on the decal itself.
