Default RE: Restoring my Ziroli DC-3 to an AC-47 Gunship

So as you can see I have primed the fuselage. This is done with PPG K-36 primer. It has been sanded with 400 wet and is ready to paint so I have begun the rivet process.

One might ask and wonder how do you put rivets on a round fuselage and maintain correct spacing, placement, and straight lines. well it isn't hard, just takes a laser leveler.

A few pictures showing the laser on the fuselage. The 90 degree lines give us a horizontal placement for the fuselage. I level the fuselage to this line and then all vertical rivet lines will be correct. Easy peasy!!!

pic #1 shows the laser displaying on the fuselage to set the horizontal position of the fuselage. I used the window bottoms for reference.
pic #2 and #3 show the vertical line and rivets being applied. I am about 70% complete as of this writing and hope to finish by the end of the week.

Next pictures will be of a painted fuselage!!!!
