Default RE: ID for Cecssna Skylane??

eagle 01, Bob, I got your email stating that you only paid $150 RTF for the Cessna. Is it worth fixing ??? Well on a dollar only basis it is borderline due to also needing a replacement engine as stated in your email. I would look at it on a new replacement value cost not the bargain price you got it for. That makes it a little more worth saving. Sometimes a plane is worth saving for your own personal peace of mind that "you didn't total the plane", "you only damaged it, and it's still in the fleet and is flying". If you don't have a lot of building and repairing experience behind you, then it's a good learning tool to dive in and figure out how to do it. You asked "how to get the tail feathers out of the fuselage" to reuse them. That's easy, just cut each piece out with a hack saw, hole saw, carpenters saw, dynamite, or what ever you have. Make your cut a safe 1/2" to 3/4" away from the stabilizer surfaces and after getting each part out of the fuselage trim away the remaining fuselage balsa untill only the actual horz. and vert. stab is left. clean up and sand the area to allow it to fit into the new fuselage. See this is where you are gaining knowledge and ability. You can also download an assembly manual from the Tower Hobby site to aid in reconstruction. You might want to take it on if for nothing else than a good learning project and the self satisfaction.
