RE: How do you determine what size of servo to use?
Ryan, I understand your point. Especially about anyone competing or "demanding" the very best out of their servos. However, like I stated, I really doubt most normal flyers would ever see the difference between the two styles of servo.
Speaking of gear slop, I have JR 8411's on my H9 Extra ailerons (came with it) and both gear trains will need replaced this winter because they both have more than their share of slop. You can't totally avoid problems just by throwing money at servos. I spend way too much on these silly planes, and if I can save $300 on servos and just give up the "perfect" centering of high dollar digitals I am going to. Not at all saying I am right and you are wrong... Most people into the giant scale picture make way more money than I do. I just don't feel like I am short changing myself by not spending $100 per servo. If 2 of my servos fail this weekend I might be in complete agreement with you!
