Default RE: Composite ARF Tucano Build

I've seen it both ways. I have seen prop strikes that did not bother the gearbox and seen some that damaged it. I have seen the same thing with Jet Central. I have seen 3W and DA gas motors twist/bend cranks from prop strikes and other times come out just fine. There are a ton of variables that will steer the outcome. The nice thing (I suppose...) is that the prop instantly shatters, releasing the load off of the gearbox so the possibility of damage is reduced.

Since the gearbox is not directly connected to the turbine, it is not affected during a prop strike...on either unit. I hope this helps...

Got a question... What happens to the JetCat engine/gearbox if you get a prop strike, i.e. the nose gear retracts? Does the gearbox trash out and need rebuilding or does it just tear up the prop?
