One thing I think may have changed over the years and the AMA view seems to reflect it. Back in the day, people flew events all over the scope of model aviation. I used to fly power free flight, indoor gliders, control line racing and stunt. I would go to a freeflight contest one weekend and a control line contest the next. Now I get the impression that most people fly a much narrower band of airplanes. It has been true of me, as well, as I have gotten older.
