Default RE: YS 170 BREAKING IN

ORIGINAL: MAVROS

Hi all I am in the proccess of breaking in a new YS170 CDI
I have run the engine with 20% Nitro and 20% LS oil for about 2liters at 2.5 turns on the needlle.
The engine starts first go and runs nicely at low rpm but when I advance the throtle it starts to misfire badly and stops.I have put the needle back to 2 turns but still misfiring.

Is this normal for new engine or is it still too rich.........YS recommends 2 turns however this sounds a bit too rich

Also can anyone recommend a place to buy a good spark plug for such engine...the one with engine is Chinese chicken s$&*(

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ADVICE

It won't run any good at 2 1/2 turns. Rough running in the transition is too rich on the reg. Lean the reg. out 'till the transition is smooth without the engine trying to jump out of the model.

Be careful when leaning the top end as if it runs lean it will spit everything off the front and possibly break the cowl.

My settings.

30% nitro,
9% oil,
Needle 7/8 th of a turn out,
Reg. is out to the start of the bevel on the brass adjusting screw,
Keep the plug gap tight. 0.0"10-.0.012"
APC 19x11
YS plug seems ok.
