You'd want to raise the compression to better use the methanol. Being lower compression stock, it would take nitro better. I suppose milling the jug and adjusting port timing would work if one had the tools to do so.
While it is certainly true that running methanol will generally allow one to run a higher compression, running methanol with no other changes will still result in a power increase. This is because while methanol has a lower BTU than gasoline, you have to run
twice as much of it in an engine, which results in a net horsepower gain. There is also a gain because the methanol tends to cool the incoming mixture, hence making the mix more dense and affording a power increase for that reason as well.
