Pretty much the only reason you would use a brake is if you have a glider or sail plane. The ECS Brake shorts the motor so that wind encountered during forward motion wont turn the propeller. The main reason, I believe, is that a rotating prop creates more drag than a static one.
So, if you're going to keep the motor running at least somewhat while the plane is in the air then don't bother.
