Thats why static balancing should be done on all flying control-surfaces, in fact all control surfaces!
Hi,
Have you passed this information along to all of the aircraft designers (both RC and FS) who don't seem to know this? Charles at Y/A would probably appreciate finding out that he can save a lot of time head-scratching on stab formulas if he just has the builder put a chunk of lead in the LE!
No, but someone should....
Want to clear out, I had no idea that FS was short for full-scale..I thought it was a term for something model-related.
But I should have known better, for some, the point is to make a laugh of others and to have the crowd cheer. I don`t really mind

.
But I asked today about the Skymaster F-16 to show you all what a "fully tested state of the art" jetmodel from the leading manufacturer today, really is. A model sold in hundreds and accepted as one of the best models there is. And I don`t say that it`s not, I just say the science around it is NOT WHAT YOU THINK! "Testing" a model is flying it enough times and see that it hold up in one piece, exactly like FEJ F-16 and others also do. And testing a model, done by people that has a NAME in this game count for some more than what the test really is. Well, not for me. I`m more aimed on what was tested and how.
I earlier told about my old Byron F-16 which grounded itself exactly because of the topic in this thread, flutter..
And that I dug into the problem.
AND that I strongly recommend ALL JETMODEL-OWNERS TO STATIC BALANCE THEIR MODEL WETHER IT NEEDS IT OR NOT.
Made many of you laugh, glad I could help
I made my own wind-tunnel today.......
The test is about the elevators on my not yet finished Skymaster F-16 1:6 scale.
One with lead, the other without.
I also tested the one with lead in 130 km/h with no others in front of me, with my arm stretched further out in linear airflow.
Dead calm, and it will hold up to the most extreme speeds.
So yes, we need extreme servos with tremendous holding power, as long as the manufacturers sell products without evidence in testing, how and what was tested. To land in one piece should never bee a good enough test for anyone..
This is NOT attack aimed for Skymaster, it`s not either a defence to FEJ.
It`s purely information any jet-modeler should be aware of..
Have a nice day
