Default RE: Looking to get into racing nitros

Now there's a can of worms...the 'best' servos for racing...that depends who you ask.

Some will say you need a 333oz-in hitec with karbonite gears. Others may say you need the 440 oz-in Savox with Titanium gears and an alloy case. They would all be wrong. What you actually need is a good quality metal geared servo with torque in the region of 200oz-in and a speed rating of .16 or less for 60* at 6v. My personal recommendation is the XP DS1015, I have 7 of them, and they have all been flawless. They are super strong, super fast and super reliable. I'm sure there are others that fit that description, but few do so for the same money, despite not being a cheap servo, it is good value at 90 bucks. To be honest, as long as you are over 200oz-in of torque and faster than .16 at 6v, you will be fine whatever you choose.

Those to whom budget does not matter, seem to usually go for KO-Propo or Futaba servos, naturally since they are the most expensive brands.
