Sollie, the mantlet gouge and splash was something I saw a few years back on a Tiger. I came across all types of hits were bolts were sheared off and I needed somewhere to hide the IR emitter.
The Schurzen hit was an afterthought, I just hammered two nails into it when I was doing the final weathering.
The mud is mostly to hide things: connection points, gaps on the final drive covers, screw heads on the suspension, etc. That's what I love about building armor, if you screw something up, put mud, hay or a tarp on it.
