Very interesting angle to the old Heng Long /Tamiya debate. We have seen Taigen, Heng Long and now Tamiya assembly plants. I think we all know who scores number one here

I'm not a shill for Tamiya and certainly don't want the HL/Tam debate again, I was just running with your point regarding responsibilty. I'm not standing up for 'the little guy' nor am I judging anyone's decision on what to buy.

The pics were pulled off the interwebs, I don't have larger versions, sorry.

I think in this particular case there is very little to debate. My hope is that given time and a little pressure from customers that Tamiya is not just copied at the product level , but at the assembly level too. If I have to pay a little more(This is the debate point, How much more???) then I think generally we would be OK with that. I get the DBC3 boards manufactured in Canada, no doubt I could get them done cheaper offshore, but I made the conscious decision to support the industry here, knowing that the shop is run under ISO 9001 standards, has controlled goods certification plus a host of other industry certification. As importers and consumers we do have the ability to question more then just the final product. Having said that I have been as guilty as the next guy at wanting lower prices, or buying that shirt made in Bangladesh without thinking about too much more then what it cost and if it fits. Some of the things that have been coming to light though suggest maybe as consumers we take some responsible action. Our lack of interest in this regard has almost killed our ability to competitively manufacture goods in North America, so we really have shot ourselves in the foot.
