I took a photo of the real Amphicar from the side. I then printed it out on a big piece of paper. Then, I measured that, and doubled the measurements on to cardboard. That became my side pattern. I rounded up the measurements slightly, just to make the math easier. Everything else was done by eye to match up with the side pattern.
