Default RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds

Hey smullis. Like the others have said. I advise against mixing in ele-flap. I fly mine with no mix at all. On the downwind leg I reduce power to 50% or so and feed in flap to slow it down. my flap angle is 45 deg. Keep enough power on that it doesn't sink yet. When the gear is deployed the extra drag will slow it enough to start descending. This works for me anyway. It ensures you have enough power to prevent the posibility of stalling. A trick I use on the flare to touch down is to close the flaps as soon as the gear touches the ground.
This means that the plane is no longer "flying" and prevents any chance of it ballooning on you. I practiced on my sim to get the feel and method ingrained so that it became 2nd nature. Good luck with the maiden. A good method on first landings is to always keep the nose down. Fly it to the ground. Keep us informed of your results.

The KiwiBandit.
