RE: Typhoons
I was VERY impressed at the probe operation, it looked just so smooth and precise. Took the pictures from the tanker, next time from the Typhoon, hopefully, I'm working on it.
Two things left me more than a little surprised after visiting AirTanker (apart from the huge cost to MOD of the private finance initiative, 1.2m pounds PER DAY for the next 27 years) it has NO probe or refuelling receptacle, unlike the Australian tankers and it has no cargo door, and at the end of the contract we still won't OWN them. However, I guess M o D must know what they are doing (be the first time for many years though !) but, as usual, the Aussies bought theirs as they did with their C17s.
..and, Rob, the bar (party room) at the back of the 380 is quite something, rather like the aeroplane itself, THE machine for long haul, making the 747 seem as dated as it is.
Glad you all liked the pictures, I was really pleased with them.
Regards,
David.
