Thanks for your replies gentlemen. I tried backing off the screws but that did not seem to help. However,the more I cycled them the better they worked and they are probably useable now. The next problem is when they extend,one of the Robostruts turns on the shaft so the wheel no longer points straight ahead.I have a filed a flat on shaft so it may be turning in the sector gear.More investigation is required I guess.
