$18 bucks for a steel pin? Who-wee that seems like a lot.
I only say this because I bent the pin in my nose gear and replaced it with a piece of mild steel I had kicking around in my scrap bin. I was worried it was too soft but guess what? Ever since I went to that soft steel pin I haven't broken a nose gear trunion (which I certainly would've at least twice). It just gently bends and saves the rest of the aircraft.
