nk3t, sorry to hear that you had that type of failure. I'm assuming the failure was the soldered connection and not the coupler breaking...correct me if I'm wrong.Tim, I will be sure to go over the steps with photos when I get to that stage, but to answer your question now here's what I do: First make sure the areas that are to receive the solder are clean and lightly sanded with some 400 grit paper. Flux the joints and assemble the coupler to the rod. Here's where it gets a little tricky. I use a small Ultra Torch to do that type of soldering, some may prefer to use a soldering gun. Either way you apply the heat to where you want the solder to flow without using too much heat. Finally let cool and do not disturb it or you will be fooled into thinking you have a good joint when what you really have is one that will fail down the road.Here is where I placed my fuel filler. I had to add a piece of blocking to the area to allow the filler to conform to the outside shape of the fuselage. Wingtips next!
