From all the pilots I've spoken with, getting the best equipment you can afford is key to being successful in Pattern flying because it allows you more time to fly and less hassles that lower cost equipment can offer. Also, remember that this pattern plane will be an investment in both your skills, time and money, and the better equipment you can afford will give you piece of mind and more flight time when practicing.
