Those theings scare the hell out of me. We have a couple of guys at the field who are really good 3D heli pilots but when they take the field I move way back.
You put a lot of faith in some small bolts and nuts. Cheap-out on the larger ones and I'd say you are taking a gamble. There are a few 3-D'ers at the one field and I too try and put something in between me and it. A friend flies a 450,500,and 600 but only does scale flights and that's all. My goal is to fly mine scale as well. No desire to 3-D. But even then something can fail.
Apparently this pilot may or may not have been doing maneuvers close to him or coming down on top of him and pulling up at the last second. Hope that's not the case of doing something foolish.
