Thanks guys, it's definitely in the Cutlass family. Starting with your replies, I did a little research on the Cutlass and have found at least three versions. The original Cutlass was published in MAN October 1970. According to a few pics I've seen and the drawing attached to the previous reply, I see the original Cutlass had a wing with a trailing edge that sweeps forward. The Cutlass Supreme on the other hand, looks to have a straight trailing edge (greater wing sweep). The Cutlass Supreme was offered as a kit by both Joy Products and the Mini-Flite Co. There was also a Cutlass Supreme Mk.II that appears to be the same design with retracts. My buddy's plane has a straight trailing edge and fixed landing gear, so I'm going to conclude it's a Cutlass Supreme. Mystery solved!
