I redesigned the cowl mounting situation on mine. I have working cowl flaps and the cowl ring is forward by 0.75in from the stock blocks. The ring with flaps is bolted to the firewall while the cowl has six button head screws mounting it to the cowl ring. Problem solved and more cooling flow added with a semi scale detail.

I had to chase the 4 stock cowl bolts every flight to try and keep the cowl from moving. On one flight the cowl came loose and rubbed on the back of the prop. I fixed it then a few flights later it happened again. Then I redesigned it all.

Also make sure you secure the dummy radial very well because the cowl will pressurize in flight and force it forward into the prop hub. I ruined one already due to this. Now with the cowl flaps this wont happen. The stock plywood on my kit is flimsy and flexes for and aft. Ive reinforced it to prevent its movement.

Cooling has not been a problem and my DLE 55RA has been working great.
