The Struts on this plane are its weakest point . Those CA hinges are just not up to the task..First I replaced mine with the Du-Bro Heavy Duty Nylon Hinge with the removable cotter pin .. That did real well till I dorked it one day and messed up the wing and broke up the strut on the one side and decided a strut up grade was in order .. I made them out of streamline tubeing and little aluminum brackets I made on the band saw .. I think I posted pics of them on here someplace..Anyway it really helped the plane out . That and the landing gear . I put Robarts gear on . It was expensive but I like the plane so much that I decided it was worth putting some money into it . I have never been sorry .I have a OS FS 81 on it . It is lots more power than it needs but I fly floats sometimes and the extra power is nice at the high mountain lakes . I love this plane.. I have 1/4 scale Cubs and 1/3 scale Cubs but I still fly my GP 1/5 Scale and I think it is the most fun . I know I do more stuff with it . Maybe because it is smaller it seems more maneuverable . I like the one piece wing too . Its easy to transport in my truck . The plane is quick and easy to set up at the field . I am a bit of a Cub nut and this particular Cub is One of my favorites . But it definitively needed the upgrades on the struts and the landing gear to make me happy .
