I like the comment about building. I just started flying pattern with an ARF and can already feel the need to build my own plane, a plane that I can tweak certain areas to fit my flying style and performance needs. Your are right, flyers knew how to build planes in order to get the most performance from them and why designs continued to radically evolve. Its a part of the hobby I hope we never lose.
