I think you nailed it. In my mind this hobby is about having fun and there is room for just about everyone. Some like "pattern" or "3D" fixed wing flying. They aren't for me. Some fly 3D heli's that do things no real helicopter could ever do. That's fine for those who do it and I watch with a degree of admiration of their skill but it's not for me. Right now I'm perfectly happy exploring the capabilities of my tiny planes. Today I took my Park Zone J-3 Cub up in wind conditions that were 10 mph with gusts to 20 mph. This little plane is a 3 channel and does not have the AS3X system. I just wanted to see how, or even if, it would fly in those conditions. I tried the Carbon Cub with its more powerful motor too. It kept me busy most of the morning.
