I think the hinges Borealis mentioned are the ones he scratched to make them functional. The details on the kit itself are very good. As for the rear plates, even if resin was included (it would tough to cast two sided flat sheets in resin), I'd probably use sheet styrene anyway since resin can warp. My problem was that it was prominent in the photos and not in the box, but at the end of the day, it's no big deal.
His casting is so well done and the amount of resin used in the kit, it really is a bargain for the price.
