To clarify the turbocharger/supercharger issue; a supercharger is mechanically driven (belts or gears: look at a Top-Fuel dragster for a belt-driven, and Rootes for mechanical), and a turbocharger is exhaust-driven.
I believe the later Mig and Sukhoi jets have doors on top of the wing or fuselage that allow operation from unimproved airstrips (no FOD), and these may also help the air intake at high angles-of-attack.
