This is not always true. I have a couple of 3000W motors with collet-type prop adapters (Neu 15xx, Pletty Advance) as well as my 2000W Scorpion and Hacker. I have yet to have an issue with a quality collet-type prop adapter and it's what I've used exclusively for 3+ years of flying electric.

Don't know what you mean by prop adapter? These larger motors should have a propeller SHAFT that screws into the hub. They are not set up like the smaller ones with the clamp that tightens on the shaft as you turn the prop nut.
