The Main LG mounts did not appear to be as structurally robust as I would have expected so a couple easy fixes were in order.
- Remove the sheeting above the LG Mounts. The nacelles cover it completely and the sheeting adds no real structural strength.
- Plywood rib doublers were made that extends above rib and around the existing mounts. Epoxy in place
- Additional mounting blocks were added on top of the existing mounts.
- As an added bonus the doublers provide a way to mount the Nacelle using screws rather than gluing in the slots provided (note that an additional doubler for the nacelle is needed as well. I also screwed the Nacelle in other places as well instead of glue). see Nacelle Photo.
The Templates are for both Landing Gear and Nacelle Mounting. If only doing the Landing Gear mod you can use 2 of the Template B parts. If you want to reinforce the Nacelle mounting as well (glued or screwed) you need to use one of each template shown. The PDF file should print the templates actual size.
