Barth Waco YMF 1/3
Continuing to work on struts. You would think one could make two identical sets. Didn't work. Enough difference in wing bracket lateral & vertical to make the lengths different. This job has been a much bigger PITA than the Pepino 1/4 I built some years back (and the Pepino design was full of errors. This isn't.). All little stuff on this one that I probably could have avoided with better attention to detail. Like the aluminum rivets to attach brass fittings to ends of struts. I was just a hair too thick on two of the wood struts and didn't get a decent head on a couple rivets. Where do I find soft aluminum rivets 2 mm dia by 6 mm long? Looked online but didn't see any. Plan calls for center section wing wire turnbuckles to attach inside to bulkhead. Can be reached to tighten turnbuckle after top plywood on through cockpit hole, but I turned one wrong way and had an end come off. Real headache getting the end back on turnbuckle.
I need to leave it set a couple days.
Anybody else stubb their toe on these designs?
