I didn't know about the new law in the US, that explains it. Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely do a little shopping around the next time I'm up North. You're probably right about the opportunity to get some great gear at discount prices, and since HVLP is practically unheard of down here, I'd be able to use it for the foreseeable future. In case you're interested, I did actually find an Iwata detail gun that is not HVLP.
