RE: Eagle 2 ARF & 4 Stroke Engine?
Sincraft,
Welcome back to the thread.
Congratulatons on the find and good luck getting it built. I'll probably get a Bipe some day. I like the looks of 'em, as I am guessing a lot of people do.
I forgot to ask Ron about the building manual for the Eagle. I bought it RTF. It is the plane I am training on. The only planes I ever assembled are the ones I got as a kid at the Ben franklin stores. Some of you guys know about how old I am now huh? Those planes were strictly gliders. There was a plastic "Y" that you squeezed the bottom of so you could insert the wings into place. Then you pushed the part you squeezed to fastened the wings to the fuse. You slid the wings back or forth along the profile typw fuse to adjust the CG. It was balsa and cost about a quarter I think.
Oooohhh, Now I remember thay also had a propelled model of that glider that used a rubber band for power. This was the high buck design. It was a big decision for a kid to make at 75 cents.
This weekend had a lot of distractions. I had to work Fri. Sat. and Sun 12 hrs each day. I was TARD TARD TARD at the end of each day. On Sat. there were a lot of people out at the airport. One member brought 2 new planes each for its maiden flight. One was the ARF Eagle II. I got there in time to see it fly. I missed the flight of the first one. They said that a hatch door came undone during the flight. That hatch had the switch mounted to it. When the hatch flew off it disconnected the switch and control was completely lost. The engine stayed at full throttle and the plane's final descent had the attitude of a post hole digger. THWUMP!!! You know the sound. Big pieces, small pieces, etc. And at least one shattered heart.
He told me he put that one toghther as a kit instead of ARF.
Oh, BTW, if you knew what you were doing we'd still need you here to tell us what we're doing.
