On the main gear doors, I've seen a few that had problems closing in flight because there wasn't enough leverage for the cylinders. to fix this, I made my own replacement forward hinges. The lever arm where the cylinder attaches is longer, and angled more downward to maximize leverage of the cylinder. The 1 1/2" Robart cylinders have plenty of stroke to close them with the longer arm.
The hinge method is completely stock and required no rounding of the door edges or fiddling with the door seats. The trick was to move the hinge line far enough inboard and to remove the green foam where the hinge wire sets so that it is right under the wing skin.
