Well people, my Excalibur arrived this afternoon! I must say that I am very impressed with the quality and have already started the build. I t would be nice to use the retracts made for this jet, but having all that I need already lying around, I decided to use what I have. The purpose made oleo's have a very large rake back on the trailing link, so my solution was to drill and tap a 3 mm hole for a small 3 mm screw into the back of the oleo where the spring holder rests against. This holds the trailing link strut out to the right angle to fit into the wheel well. I'm using my three inch Jet Legend wheels and brakes, which appears to be a perfect fit. I will have to shorten the oleo's to suit by having them machined on a lathe, very easy to do. The kit came with a tank, but at 3 litres, it's huge for my PST800, so I may use a two juice bottle plus a 300 ml header tank, which should give me about 8 mins of flying. Hopefully the pics show what I'm trying to do.
