Warm up the tubing, that will do the trick
....with hot water, not an open flame. Boil some water, then put the end of the tube in it for a minute or so, then push it over the barb. Be careful the tubing will be hot, don't burn yourself - use a piece of cloth when you push it one. Afterwards add safety wire and all will be good.
