Well that is a mystery then. The Brown wire is Positive and the yellow wire is negative. It should make no difference how you hook them up to the red and Black. The Heng long elevation is a cam and is happy turning either way.

Tell me what you did once these wires are hooked up. Down on the left stick should should cycle the elevation motor. Are you are absolutely sure the wires you have in you hand are connected to the poles on the elevation motor and are not connected to an LED or something?. I haven't bought a new Heng Long in a while and have never experienced the elevation motor with a dedicated two pin connection like you are holding. That is why I am asking, are you sure those wires are hooked up to the elevation motor.

If you have another low amp motor hook it up to the brown and yellow wire, or of course a volt meter would help to make sure you have power to those pins.
