Default Nose gear steering

Stupid beginner's question.
On a tricycle gear setup why does the nosegear steer the opposite direction as the rudder. When the rudder is left it turns left. But when the rudder is left the nosewheel is right. So when you are taxiing you have to turn the TX to the opposite direction to get the plane to taxi the right direction. (to get the nosewheel to turn left you have to turn the TX stick right. This don't sound right to me. Shouldn't the nosewheel turn the same direction as the rudder? Told you it was a stupid question!!!
