Most of the popular batteries for power tools use Lithium Ion batteries, not Lithium Polymer batteries. These batteries seem to less prone to fires, as compared to Lithium Polymer batteries. Aside from that, the Lithium Ion chargers may have safety features that are not found in some R/C chargers, such as temperature sensors.
