Over the past several days, I have been pulling tanks off the shelf and updating them. As my skills have progressed I decided that some of my earlier versions could benefit from a "redo". It was an interesting time travel back 8 years, as I opened some of these up, and saw what I had been up to.
A couple of things that didn't make the grade.
Lazer tags scavenged and turned into IR battling for tanks Fail
Homebuilt gear reduction,( too slow, and noisy) Fail
So as I pulled these off the shelf, I systematically rebuilt them, with new gears, electronics, with a great amount of time spent making the inside look as good as the outside. Quality high strand count flexible wiring was used to rewire these to allow neat wiring.Promax motors were installed when improved torque was needed. Quality speakers and 15 watt amps to give rumble to the sound systems. Once the interiors were done, a spent some time adding another layer of details, and did some paint filtering work. All in all a very rewarding exercise, and it really used up a bunch of parts I had stuffed away.
Here is the result of the last couple of weeks.
