there was a post a while back about using nylon bolts for the landing gear. That way, it would shear the bolts off and not rip out the block holding the gear in, then just keep a stock of ny-bolts and replace as neccessary. Pretty good idea.
I am going to have to disagree with you for 2 reasons for this method. One; they should not break off as easy as they do. Since this plane is used for practicing Harrier landings, nylon bolts will not do the job and you need to be able to come down hard on them sometimes while practicing. Two; if you are going to use nylon bolts, be well prepared to keep plenty of monokote on hand. If the landing gear comes off, especially as easy as it would with nylon bolts, you are going to tear your wings on the bottom and damage your elevator almost every time, as I speak from experience. The landing gear will fold right under the very fragile wings. The damage will be more so if you have wheel pants on.

Lets just say now that I have fiberglassed & epoxy'd the landing gear and the wall that holds the single wing bolt, it will be the last thing to break on this plane. It needs to be done. If anyone wants to see a pic of how I did it let me know.
