Guys, here's the quick response I got back from Klotz this morning.
"Dear Hal;
It sounds like some of the lubricant is coming out of suspension before reaching the combustion chamber. This is causing a build-up on the needle valve which in turn is leaning out the fuel mixture.
The culprit is the reformulated gasoline that is being produced today can cause some lubricants to “push” out. With over 33 different “blends” of gasoline it is a localized problem. A lot of the gasoline blends will actually start to go bad after one week.
Some petroleum oils may be more forgiving about blending with these new gases. The downside is that you will be giving up the protection and performance that synthetics offer.
Have you tried a different brand of gas? We have found that Amoco and Shell are the best pump gases.
Thanks,

As I replied to Chuck, I had been using 76 and whatever 7-11 sells. If I get brave, I may try Shell. Thanks for all the input. Now to go mix up some more Valvoline
