I need to check the CG on the plane but I want to do it with the pilot figure and cockpit in place. I wanted to have a removable cockpit so I can get to the gas tank and air tank, and anything else in that area. I tried unsuccessfully and finally came up with an idea that I think will work. The cockpit is made from balsa and dowel. The seat is made from balsa covered with metal tape, painted with black primer. I sprayed the wood with Clarke Industries warpaint interior green. The pilot was gutted - only his head, feet, and hands are left. I cut the weight by six ounces by doing this - making a torso from styrofoam. The pics should be pretty self explanatory.
