I finally got the plane on the CG machine yesterday. I had hoped for no lead needed, but ended up with a small baggie of shot needed in the cowl area to get it to balance. It now balances in the middle of the cg range with the wheels up and at the forward cg mark with the wheels down - no fuel on board but otherwise ready to fly. I know I could reduce some of the lead needed by using a different tail wheel assembly but I like the Sierra assembly. All up weight is about 30-1/2 lbs to 31lbs. about 3 lbs heavier than my target (and the amount of lead I had to add no less). I've seen these fly well at 32 so I'm hopeful that it will be a decent performer with the 3w-50i. Next up will be some taxi tests and then a maiden. When it was hanging from the CG machine I took a few pix showing the wingtip lights, the lead on the cowl, and the balance point.
