The main gear is very removable: just two hex screws like the tail. That and the wing bolts would make a total of 6 screws for each setup and takedown. I do hate complicated setups and I think ARF's tend to fall apart faster when they're taken apart frequently, but I agree with your sentiments about a bigger plane. The UCD3 is inexplicably elegant, in sort of an ugly way, with its huge wing and long tail moment.
